The United States is famous for its record-breaking people and similarly, on Thursday evening, 330 million Twitter users unfollowed into a world without @realDonaldTrump. This account belongs to the President Donald Trump through which he aggressively confronts those who displease him or pass any negative comments there, he also uses it to communicate with other countrymen, suggests North Korea “may not be around much longer!” and promotes Trump Tower taco bowls- disappeared.
Social platform, Twitter initially published a statement on Thursday night stating that Trump’s “account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee.” Soon after that, visitors to his account were simply showing, “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”. However, the statement further stated that “The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.”
Two hours later, Twitter updated its statement by mentioning an investigation showed the deactivation “was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day.” Twitter added, “it would be conducting a full internal review”. The company’s posted that @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes and has since been restored. The Twitter team is still investigating and are taking prior steps to prevent happening again in future. Trump has used the Twitter account since March’09 and he has tweeted for more than 36,000 times and has 41.7 million followers across the country.
Donald Trump mentioned that “You have to keep people interested also, you know, you have to keep people interested. When somebody says something about me, I am able to go bing, bing, bing and I take care of it.” Trump’s twitter handle may have been “inadvertently” deactivated on Thursday, but Twitter has also had to defend its decision not to take down particular presidential tweets and to keep the privacy and security high for the same.
